Micro Systems Technology

MEMS

Micro/Nano Systems Initiative Technology (MNSI) is an exciting new discipline which is revolutionizing industry through the introduction of functional systems that are micro-sized, high-precision and of low unit cost. Multi-disciplinary expertise is called for as MST encompasses many aspects of technical physics, including microelectronics, mechanics, chemistry, biology, materials, optics and computer science.

Advanced Materials Engineering

Materials science and engineering has been at the fore-front of any technological development. The department supports a number cutting-edge researches in areas of new materials and their mechanical property characterizations. Materials under development include nano-structured materials, composites, metastable and nano-lubricant materials. These researches will have strong impact in the development of new technologies such as MEMS, nanotechnology, biomaterials and electronics packaging. The department is also part of a faculty level Materials Engineering Initiative.
