The Department of Mechanical Engineering offers a wide range of programmes catering to different interests and aspirations. The Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical Engineering) programme aims to acquaint the student to the entire suite of relevant fundamental concepts before building upon that understanding to allow them to appreciate the more complex and specialized applications. While instilling depth, the University-Level Requirements of the programme allow students to pursue interests beyond the Faculty of Engineering, be in the Sciences, Humanities, Law, or Business. Students can also choose to participate in a vast range of Special Programmes such as Student Exchange, Minor, Major, Double-Degree Programmes, and Enhancement Programmes such as Industrial Attachment Programme, Vacation Internship Programme, and Technoprenuership Programme. Students can get a good feel of the industries associated with the study through the real-life working exposure that some of these programmes offer.
At the postgraduate level, the Department of Mechanical Engineering offers both coursework-based (i.e. MSc) as well as research degrees (i.e. MEng, PhD). Postgraduate students have the opportunity to work closely with faculty members on a wide variety of exciting research projects.
